Caracterizarea statică şi dinamică a comportării momentelor magnetice în medii nanostructurate

Principalul obiectiv al proiectului KARMA este consolidarea infrastructurii de cercetare a Laboratorului de Magnetism din cadrul Platformei Interdisciplinare pentru Studii Avansate si Nanotehnologii Moleculare (CNCSIS – AMON) si Centrului de Excelenta CARPATH (Centrul pentru Cercetari Aplicate in Fizica ai Tehnologii Avansate, acreditat de CNCSIS in anul 2006).
Proiectul este menit sa creasca semnificativ capacitatea grupului de a se implica in proiecte de cercetare complexe in domenii precum studiul sistemelor feromagnetice nanoparticulate si nanostructurate, spintronica, materiale magneto-dielectrice, multiferoici cu tranzitii de spin dar si alte teme. Contributia pozitiva a proiectului se va evidentia si prin imbunatatirea cooperarilor internationale ale grupului, in special prin cresterea capacitatii de implicare in proiecte FP7. Grupul implicat in acest proiect participa deja ca partener cu drepturi depline in cadrul Retelei de Excelenta FP6 MAGMANet dedicata magnetismului molecular si care are drept obiectiv infiintarea Institutului European de Magnetism Molecular in urmatorii doi ani. Reteaua MAGMANet a aprobat si finanteaza din 2007 un proiect strategic de cercetare coordonat de grupul de la Iasi.
Proiectul KARMA este dedicat dezvoltarii noii metode a diagramelor FORC experimentale, metoda prin care grupul de la Iasi este bine cunoscut de comunitatea stiintifica. Proiectul va fi benefic si pentru multiplele colaborari bilaterale din tari precum: SUA, Marea Britanie, Franta, Italia, Austria Japonia, China, Taiwan, Brazilia, Elvetia si Germania. Grupul implicat in acest proiect beneficiaza si de o importanta recunoastere nationala (UAIC a primit in 2006 premiul Ministerului Educatiei si Cercetarii pentru cel mai mare numar de publicatii ISI – 50% din aceste publicatii au drept autori membri ai platformei AMON iar 25% sunt ale membrilor centrului CARPATH). Consolidarea facilitatilor experimentale va accentua rolul de frunte al grupului in unele domenii precum metoda FORC experimentala, studiul histerezisului materialelor multiferoice si va creste capacitatea de cooperare cu partenerii industriali cu rezultate benefice pentru comunitatea locala si regionala. Grupul implicat in proiect isi va creste implicarea in promovarea stiintei in societate si va contribui la cresterea vizibilitatii sale internationale prin publicatii de inalta calitate in jurnale prestigioase, prin organizarea de manifestari stiintifice, prin invitarea unor oameni de stiinta recunoscuti pe plan international si prin participarea unor membri ai grupului la conferinte internationale importante si in comitete stiintifice internationale. Cel mai puternic avantaj al grupului este inalta calitate stiintifica a membrilor sai, cei mai multi mai tineri de 40 de ani, fiecare avand publicatii semnificative recunoscute prin citari directe, fiind si beneficiari a unor stagii in laboratoare de prestigiu din strainatate. Astfel, proiectul de fata poate fi perceput si ca un efort suplimentar de a pastra in tara specialistii tineri, multi dintre ei invitati sistematic sa se alature altor grupuri din strainatate.

Static and Dynamic Characterization of Magnetic Moments Behaviour in Nanostructured Media

KARMA project is dedicated to the strengthening of the infrastructure of the Magnetism Laboratory within the Integrated Platform for Advanced Studies in Molecular Nanotechnologies (CNCSIS – AMON) and Center of Excellence CARPATH (Center for Applied Research in Physics and Advanced Technologies accredited by CNCSIS in 2006). This project will considerably increase the capacity of the group to be involved in complex research projects in domains like the study of nanoparticulate and nanostructured ferromagnetic systems, spintronics, magneto-dielectrics, multiferroics with spin-transition and other topics. The main positive role of the project will be observed in the enhancement of the international cooperation of the group, especially in the increased capacity to be implicated in successful FP7 projects. The group is already participating as full partner in the Network of Excellence FP6 MAGMANet dedicated to the molecular magnetism and which has the main aim to establish an European Institute of Molecular Magnetism in the next two years. MAGMANet network approved and financed in 2007 a strategic research project coordinated by the Iasi group. In 2007, the KARMA coordinator also elaborated an application for a FP7 project (Coordination/networking-type), project FORCE, with six partners from five countries: Romania-UAIC - coordinator, France, Italy, UK and Switzerland. The project is dedicated to the development of the new FORC diagram experimental method in which Iasi group is well known in the scientific community. The project will be also beneficial to the multiple bilateral relations of the group with partners from countries like: USA, UK, France, Italy, Austria, Japan, China, Taiwan, Brazil, Switzerland, and Germany. Also the group is now in the process of negotiation of a new FP7 STREP project with partners from UK and important industrial support. The group participating in this project is highly recognized internationally and nationally (UAIC received in 2006 the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research the prize for the highest number of ISI publications – about 50% of these publications are originating from the members of the AMON platform and 25% from the CARPATH center). The reinforcement of the experimental facilities will enhance the leading role of the group in a number of research domains (FORC experimental method, study of hysteresis in multiferroics, etc.) and will increase the capacity of cooperation with industrial partners with beneficial results for the local and regional communities. The group will increase its involvement in the promotion activities of science in society and will aim to improve the international visibility of the group by high quality publications in prestigious international journals, by organizing conferences and workshops by inviting high profile scientist and by participation of the group members at the major international conferences and in the international scientific committees. The strongest asset of the group is the high quality of its members, most of them under 40 years old, each one with significant publications and recognized by direct citations and with international stages in famous international laboratories. In this way this project can be also seen as a supplementary effort to maintain the group in the country, as all the members are systematically invited to join various research groups in the western countries. The stability of the group and the financial sustainability for the long term proper use of the equipment are targeted through the various programs of the National Program for Scientific Research, including this one, dedicated to the infrastructure, Capacities.
