Theoretical Model for Magnetoelectric Interactions in Strip-ring Multiferroic Composite Structure
Abstract
theoretical model is presented to describe the modulation of the resonance frequency in piezoelectricmagnetostrictive strip-ring composite heterostructures, where the piezoelectric and magnetostrictive phases are coupled through normal stresses instead of the shear stresses which act in most of the traditional layered composites. Expression for the capacitance of the composite heterostructures, which can show the moving of the resonance frequency on different condition with its peaks at electromechanical resonance, is obtained by solving elastodynamic equations. Applying the theory for the specific case of the PZT-strip/TDF-ring structure,we demonstrate that the resonance frequencies remarkably depended on the strength of the mechanical coupling as well as the applied DC magnetic field. The analysis suggests the strip-ring composite structure is promising for the detection of magnetic field.
