Computation of the Efficiency of NaI (Tl) Detectors Using Radioactive Inverted Well Beaker Sources Based on Efficiency Transfer Technique
Abstract
In this work, the full energy peak efficiency values (FEPE) of NaI (Tl)-scintillation detectors (2"*2"& 3"*3") have been calculated using radioactive Marinelli beaker sources of different dimensions by using an analytical approach based on the effective solid angle ratio. Calculations were done by taking into account the source self-attenuation effect, this approach operates as an efficiency transfer (ET) method. In the experiments the aqueous radioactive sources containing 152Eu radionuclide’s covering the energy range from 121 to 1408 keV were used. By comparison, there is a good agreement between the theoretical and experimental full energy peak efficiency.
